Have you seen Elmo??? NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2006 (UPI) -- U.S. parents were incensed this week after area stores offered limited amounts of the new TMX Elmo doll, which has exceeded expectations since its release. The New York Times reported that parents at U.S. stores such as the Times Square Toys R Us were met this week with bare shelves when they sought out the new toy as Mattel struggled to meet the unpredicted popularity of the newest Elmo doll. "I feel deceived," tourist Ramona Keys said Wednesday outside of the New York locale. "They sold out too quick." Since its release, the TMX Elmo from Mattel's Fisher Price unit has surpassed the company's sales predictions and rampant sales online have caused the company to cease offering the toy on the Internet. "The success is clearly beyond our wildest dreams for day one," Fisher Price Friends manager David Allmark said. "It is also beyond the retailer's expectations, from a day one sales point of view."
