So your thinking about buying your first jukebox. I would recommend starting with a machine that is simple to repair. I say this because if you don't know someone who can repair it then your going to be hard pressed to find someone that is qualified to do it. ( I have seen really bad hack jobs in my life).  My first choice would be a Rockola. They are pretty simple and easy to work on. One that comes to mind is the Rockola Starlet. The amp is composed of tubes that are commonly found in most old German Radios. (It even uses a couple of TV tubes) also the mech is straight forward and easy to work on. Jukeboxes with Vacuum Tubes have a very warm sound and are easy to service. Also the Rockola Starlett is nice and small as is the 1966 Rockola Model 431 Coronado and the 1969 Rockola Model 441 with the exception the model 441 has a transistor amp. In most cases these little gems only need some oil (10 weight non-detergent) which you can find at your local automotive parts distributor. Also a SERVICE manual is very important. You can get these here on Ebay and there are many wonderful Ebayers that sell them. Read the manual from cover to cover if this does not help you  try and get a trouble shooting guide. You can get these here on Ebay as well or at Victory Glass (which is a fantastic distributor for jukebox parts and related material).  I also mention this machine because it is small and easy to find parts for. The needle and cartridge is always here on Ebay for $25 or less. The machine also holds 50 records (100 play) so there is alot of room inside the machine to work on it. Next this machine is stereo (which is a nice feature). Florecent lights are easy as well to find. Because Rockola kept alot of their 1960's machine's internals basically the same parts often can be exchanged from other models of Rockola's from the 1960's including motors (with the mere change of a gear or the head of the motor where the gearing is). The 1966 Rockola model 431 Coronado is extremly similar as well and most parts will interchange with the Starlett. Seeburgs are also alot like this but try to stay away from Seeburg LPC1 and Seeburg LPC408 as these were quite complicated and the "T" style needles are extremely expensive. Its so easy to get too much money into a machine thats why I suggest certain machines. I would recommend the Seeburg model M100C or the Seeburg Model HF100R. When you see the insides of these machines you might become intimidated. Don't be they are straight forward and quite easy to work on. There is a great group on yahoo (seeburginfoclub) and these wonderful people would be more then willing to help you. Lastly I would recommend the 1956 AMI model G another nice straight forward machine to work on. Again needles and cartridges are easy to find here on Ebay. You will find the best prices on the Rockola Starlet. I personally have owned one for over 8 years with NO troubles what so ever. If you need information on vacuum tube amplifier rebuilding see my other articles here on Ebay.
