When I was a child we played with sticks and rocks and, if we were lucky, we had a baseball bat!

Children today have such an incredible selection of playthings at their disposal and as a parent it sometimes gets difficult to decide which of the multitude of toys available to buy for your child.I would like to suggest the Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera.

This is a real digital camera that is built tough enough for kids to use! I've seen this camera dropped, smashed into chairs, thrown across the room, and generally "played" with, and still produce decent photos. This is NOT a pro-model camera, but as a childs first camera it is a remarkable little item.

This camera features a 1.3" LCD color preview screen that allows your child to instantly see the pictures they have just taken. The camera has a 640x480 resolution for quality 4"x6" prints, 8MB built-in memory which allows you to store up to 60 pictures, and it has an SD card slot for increased capacity. The memory card is NOT included in the package, but it is available as an accessory as is the Kid-Tough Camera Case. This camera requires 4 AA batteries that are NOT included as well.

The package comes with the camera, a USB cord for connecting to the computer, a built-in flash, a wrist strap, and a CD of digital software that allows your child to manipulate their photos after downloading them to the computer.

The only knock I've heard against this camera is that the picture quality is not always good and sometimes the photos are dark. I own a $1400.00 digital camera and sometimes my photos are not that great either! Come on, this is a childs first camera. If it withstands the beating, dropping, throwing, drooling and dripping that a child is gonna put it through, how can it not be a great product. This camera will survive all of those things, and keep right on taking the kind of picture that a child will delight in.

Do yourself and your child a favor. Save your expensive digital camera and give the kids one of their own.

These things are sold out almost everywhere. I have seen them selling anywhere from $59.99 to $79.99 retail (when and IF you find them), and for much, much more here and other auction sites.

This camera received the Editor's Choice Award from the "Children's Technology Review".

If you want a digital camera that has sturdy dual handgrips for a steady shot, big easy-to-use buttons, two-eye viewing that makes it easy for a child look through the viewfinder, and a really tough, tough design, the this is the right camera for you and your children! I've seen this camera in Blue, Red, and the very trendy PINK color. You can't go wrong with this one, at any price!
