Sky designer brand clothing is extremely popular with celebrities and on eBay. Imitation can be a form of flattery, but not when it comes to the fake Sky clothing that is starting to pop up on eBay. This guide is to educate Sky clothing collectors who may not be able to tell what is authentic and what is fake.

Sky clothing is manufactured in Los Angeles and originally began as a shoe collection by Peter and Jennifer Kane in 1998.  After switching gears; trendy, chic, exotic and unique fashions became the companys signature niche. Sky clothing styles consist of jewels, crystals, medallions, and rich leathers, just to name a few.

Because Sky clothing is so unique, to the trained eye, deciphering Fake Sky Clothing from Authentic Sky Clothing is pretty simple.  However, because Sky clothing can be hard to find in retail outlets, deciphering fake from authentic may not be so simple for everyone.

Sky Tag. All Sky clothing items will have a simple black tag that says Sky in white font with a gold halo over the letter "s".  The tag is located at the back of the neck for tops and dresses and at the back midriff for halters.  An additional tag with the size is sewn directly beneath the Sky tag.  Sky clothing comes in sizes XS, S, M or L.  Sky clothing is known to run true to size. There may also be an additional Sky logo tag in white, that is attached with a long black string. Not all Sky clothing will have hanger straps, but for those that do, the hanger straps most always have the Sky logo imprinted on it in a continuous fashion. The color of the hanger straps are either black or white.

  Jewels & Baubles. What makes Sky clothing so hot and in demand are the embellishments that they consist of.  They range from rhinestones, crystals, jewels, stones, medallions, and or leather banding.  Authentic Sky clothing embellishments are usually heavy in weight, as applicable.  Pay close attention to these embellishments because this is where authentic Sky clothing stands apart from fake Sky clothing.

What the Fake is This? The pictures below detail authentic and fake Sky clothing.  These are only a few examples of what to look for.  If ever in doubt about the authenticity of Sky clothing, always check the sellers feedback.  This is usually a good indicator of the quality of the Sky merchandise they have sold. In order to fit into this guide, the pictures below were automatically resized by eBay to a smaller size than I had originally planned. You can quickly tell that fake Sky tops may be similar to authentic Sky tops, but there are differences!

Authenticity Guarantee. Make sure to ask the seller if authenticity is guaranteed for the Sky clothing items they are selling.  If the authenticity of the item is not mentioned in the listing description, be leery, and make sure to ask! If a seller's Sky clothing items are authentic, it will be clearly and proudly indicated in the listed - if the item is not authentic, more than likely, the word authentic will not be mentioned in the listing. Just because a seller is advertising their items as Sky clothing, it does NOT necessarily mean the items are authentic! 

The top shown directly above is a FAKE Sky Top! It may be similar, but it IS NOT the Sky top that has been worn by and seen on the television program "The Real Housewives of Orange County". This top is currently available on eBay for over $150.00! Don't be fooled!

• Be leery of listings where the seller states that the Sky tag has been removed!
• Be leery of listings that show the Sky tag by itself and not pictured with the clothing item!
• Be leery of sellers who display only stock Sky photos and show no photos of the actual clothing item!
• Be leery of listings that have no authenticity guarantee or no refund or exchange policy!
• Be leery of sellers who have negative, neutral or questionable feedback regarding the Sky clothing they have sold!
• Be leery of some Powersellers who sell fake Sky clothing! I guarantee you, they are out there and waiting to rip you off!

If they offer to exchange it, make sure that the item being sent in exchange is authentic! Better yet, if the item was purchased via Paypal, file an Item-Not-As-Described claim with Paypal and get your money back! SKY does not currently have a VERO account with eBay - as such, an influx of fake SKY clothing is available on eBay. The next best way to flush out fake SKY clothing sellers, is to report them!
