The purpose of this guide is to explain the best way, in my 10 years of selling on E-Bay, to ship packages to E-Bay buyers within the USA. When someone wins an item from you, they are excited to receive it, as is expected, and want it to get to them as soon as possible. Unless it is a $3 or $4 dollar item or the like, you are much better off to ship ALL your packages through USPS Priority Mail.

Many times I have won a nice item and it was sent first class, first class is SLOW in most cases. When you ship first class, the post office waits until there is enough first class packages to ship the whole amount. Your package which was brought in on Monday may sit a week or more before it is on it's way to the buyer. I have waited three weeks to get a first class package one state away from mine!

Priority Mail gets to the buyer, almost always, in three days or less. The boxes are free and delivered to your home via phone or internet ordering at www.usps.com

The cost for most packages is about $5.25 WITH delivery confirmation. Larger packages of course, would be more.

I find that 99% of all buyers would rather pay a little extra money and have the item delivered fast and boxed.

Also sellers, don't add on for shipping materials, labor etc., that's all part of doing buisness. If you must charge for shipping supplies tack a little bit onto the opening bid, not to the postage charge.

Don't charge excess rates for postage. Asking $9 to mail a baseball card first class mail is criminal. Dont gain your profits on phony postage it's not fair to the buyer and makes you look like a crook!

To the sellers who charge $1.00 for an item and $26.00 for the postage, it is stupid and foolish, the buyers are not fools, don't treat them as such. Charge $25.00 for the item and fair postage, the other way is ridiculous!

If someone purchases a dentable or breakable item, for heavens sake, don't send it in a padded envelope. A box is the only thing that will do, it will protect the item and shows you care about your items enough to ship them properly! Do things right, treat people right and you will be a superstar E-Bay seller!
