Selling vintage scanner radios is an art all in itself. You can see in completed auctions many are not sold or sold for very little. The main reason sellers have little success in achieving sales is the way they do thier listings. The first step is to do some research and find out what band coverage your scanner has, VHF, UHF, Hi-Lo both etc. After you determine that you need to open up the scanner and see how many crystals are installed and note the frequencies in your listing. The crystals often are worth more than the scanner themselves. You need to have good photos of the unit inside and out to show the condition as well as describing in detail. The listing must include the amount of channels it has and the control functions, scan, delay, squelch, lockout, volume, tone, etc... Important to note the maker Uniden, Bearcat, Realistic, etc. and the model number as well. Keywords are also helpful many Fireman, Policeman, Public service workers and others want these old scanners for their home use to monitor their own local services. These units usually work great and serve the purpose of select channels only and that gives them value. Another source of buyers is the old radio scanner collector. If you follow our suggestions you will also pick up some of those buyers as well. They will summize from your listing if it is one they want to add to their personal collection.
