REAL SELLER SECRETS REVEALED
With the holidays fast approaching, sellers will start coming out of the woodwork with a popular, annual selling scheme that has been going on for years on eBay, and as the buying frenzy starts, you might want to look out for a few seller secrets that might save you a lot of money.Buy low, Sell High
Every year, without fail, it happens...I love to buy on eBay, and often times I will purchase Christmas gifts on eBay. Last year, and this is a perfect example of the seller scheme, my wife wanted a KitchenAid Mixer. I figured, as many do, 'I bet there's a good one on eBay for much less than what I could find it for in the retail market'. I looked on eBay, found one that she wanted, color, great price...everything - bought it! 10 days later, when it arrived...the first thing I noticed was that it was shipped in an Amazon.com box? I figured that the seller proboably used an old Amazon.com box they had laying around to ship the KitchenAid mixer.
Not quite.
When I opened the box, there was a packing slip...the seller BOUGHT THE ITEM ON AMAZON.COM, AFTER I BOUGHT IT OFF THEM ON EBAY! That's right, they posted the Mixer on eBay for about $30.00 more than what they were going for on amazon.com. When a sale takes place, they simply went to amazon.com, bought the mixer, and had them ship it direct to me...and pocketed about $20.00. All because I didn't take the time to look at amazon.com first. I felt like an idiot.
This happens more than you think on eBay.
Electronics, vacuum cleaners, kitchen gadgets, you name it - sellers spot the item on amazon.com (many times the item is refurbished) and then they simply post the item on eBay for a certain percentage higher, mention it being refurbished in very small lettering, and make a healthy profit when they take your money, for something you could have easily purchased on amazon.com for the same price.
This also takes place with samsclub.com. Sellers will search the website for items that are selling well on eBay. They post the auction for the item (they don't even have in their possesion), wait for a sale, then go to the site, order it, and have them ship it direct to you...they never touch the item, they take an extra $20-$30 out of your pocket, and probably are thinking the whole time - "sucker".
My advice. Ask the seller if the item is "In hand". Better yet, simply check samsclub.com or amazon.com FIRST for that KitchenAid mixer, Dyson Vacuum cleaner, Stereo System, headphones, etc before you spend your money on eBay. You would be surpirsed how my items, sellers are doing this with...
Clues?
Look for the use of stock photos in the auction...this is the first tell tale sign that this scheme might be taking place. If you want to see this scheme taking place simply search Amazon.com right now for any popular KitchenAid mixer. Take that model name and search eBay for it...it may take 5-10 minutes but you WILL come across this scheme taking place. Look at the prices...it's all there.
Remember, around Christmas time, this scheme becomes much more popular.
