Knowing how to tell Legitimate Second Chance Offers from SPAM is essential. One does not want to chance responding to SPAM, yet one also does not want to miss out on the chance to buy an item that sold just above your last bid. Legitimate Second Chance Offers are eBay computer generated offers from Sellers who have duplicate items and are willing to sell the duplicate item to a losing bidder at that bidder's own last bid (offer), which was below the winning bid . Second chance offers can also be used if winning bidder backs out or if an auction did not met reserve price and seller is willing to sell to highest bidder. Legitmate offers will show in THREE places, the bidders registered email, the bidders My Messages on the My eBay page, and on the Original Auction under the Items I Did Not Win section of the bidders My eBay page. SPAM offers will only show up in email so before you click on anything in an email offer, go to your My eBay page and check under My Messages in the left hand column (click My Messages to get to the messages) or click on Didn't Win in the left hand column to get to your Items I Did Not Win and the offer will show up under Second Chance Offers. More information on Second Chance Offers can be found by using eBay HELP and typing in Second Chance Offer.
