I would guess most eBayer's, including myself until recently have never heard of keeping *Silica Gel Packets* in with their coin/token collections.  If your like most people you don't have the luxury of keeping your collection in a temperature controlled environment.  This gel can preserve and keep your collection in it's best possible condition for future generations to enjoy.  It's strongly recommended for people who store their coins in safety deposit boxes or live in humid areas.  It's small hard crystals that absorb moisture from the environment is optimal for these particular environments!

You've probably seen these many times in shoe boxes, food containers, ect...  They almost look like little packets of salt or sugar.  Be very careful to keep these away from children and pets.


If you want to buy it on eBay, do your search for "silica gel".  It can also be bought at coin shops or gun supply stores since it's used to prevent guns from rusting in storage.  Most new coin collectors won't need it right away, but it's something to consider as your collection grows.  Silica gel can be found in camera bags, shoe boxes, and even jewelery boxes, so you may have some around the house already and not know it.
