Did you know that US Postal Service’s (USPS) "Click and Ship" is a GREAT shipping option?

Using “Click and Ship,” sellers simply weight the package (scales can be purchased at your local post office or any office supply store).  Then you click on “Print shipping label” in eBay -- which takes you to PayPal.  The transaction detail page will come up in PayPal.  There is a box for a message to your buyer that goes out automatically when you print the label.  On the transaction page you choose from a drop down menu the type of postage desired (i.e. First Class, Priority Mail, Media Mail, etc.,), then key in the weight (pounds and ounces), scroll to the bottom of the page and click “continue.”  On the next page it shows you all the details you selected.  Scan through them to be sure they are correct then scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Pay and Continue.”

The 8.5” by 11” page prints on your regular home printer with the postage on half the page and a receipt on the other half (to retain for your records with free tracking.)  Cut the paper in half, tape or glue the postage to your package and it is ready to go.

There are discounts applied when you use “Click and Ship” and the delivery confirmation is built in (and it’s FREE).  The software draws the funds directly from your PayPal account too.  Do note that when using Click and Ship, the USPS asks that we not tape over the bar codes so the high speed address readers can function properly.

As if  THAT service wasn’t enough to make your day, Click n Ship really saves a lot of time at the Post Office.  You just go in and hand them to the postal folks or put them in the bin provided.   You just hand in the packages and leave – no lines!

Alternatively, you can schedule USPS to pick up your shipment right at home or your place of business (also for FREE).  You can schedule pick ups through a link provided on PayPal or through USPS.com (look for "Schedule a Carrier Pick Up" at the top of the page).  The site asks for you address first, then your name and contact information (don’t forget to click that you acknowledge the two disclaimers as you page through).  The site will ask you for the number and type of packages and a rounded total weight.  It just doesn’t get any better (or easier) than that!

I hope this note has encouraged you to try some of the wonderful array of time saving tools available today from the U.S. Postal Service --  these folks are deffinitely not our parents postal people -- they are all about a new kind of service that is amazing.  This particular group of tools delights me!
