DO NOT USE YOUR FINGER TO START THESE MOTORS!!!!
I OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW BETTER USE A CHICKEN STICK
USE AN ELECTRIC STARTER. USE ONE OF THE SPRING STARTERS
WHY YOU ASK? TAKE A LOOK AT THE NEW PHOTO. NUFF SAID!!
1.Gently close the needle valve rotating it clockwise when viewed from the top Do not over Tighten.
2. Put glow fuel in the tank. This is a mixture of at least 20% Castor or Synthetic oil and 10-30 percent Nitromethanol and Alcohol mix. Do not use old fuel. Dispose of old fuel properly and buy only the amount you will use in a month or two at most. NEVER USE GASOLINE even for cleaning. Do not use Antifreeze For cleaning Especially the dumbest trick in the world of heating it up on a gas stove to clean parts with.
3. Open the needle valve 3 turns
4.Gently Rotate the Prop until the exhaust ports are just closed and put a few drops of fuel in the exhaust port on the side of the piston. Rotate the propeller a full 360 once or twice to suck fuel into the motor.
5. NOW hook up the glow clip to the glow head using a 1.5 volt battery.
6. If you have one on it. Recommended HIGHLY.hook the spring starter to the prop using only 1 clockwise turn. Release the prop and the motor should fire. If not try it two or three times Still no fire repeat steps 4 then 5 then 6 again.
7. Should the engine fire but only run for a short time. It may not have gotten the fuel thru the pickup tube yet. Try several more times.
8.Should the motor still refuse to run more than a few seconds, open the needle valve 1/2 turn. More hints are to be found in the trouble shooting manual that cam with your motor.
9. The motor when it starts should be running rich. Let it run like this for a minute or so to build up some heat in the motor. Leave the clip attached to the glow head. After that minute begin to screw the needle valve in until the motor runs faster. It will really begin to scream now. Remove the glow clip. Now let the fuel run the motor until used up.
10. This is breaking in your motor and must be done to every new or rebuilt motor. Let the motor cooled down between runs. Do this until the motor will hold a sustained high RPM through a complete tank of fuel. It will take ten to fifteen minutes of running before this motor has been broken in. Always start the motor somewhat rich and then lean it out to maximum RPM. Now your SAFE LETS KEEP IT UP. Thanks dray
