Rustic Gardening is more than just using an Old Bucket. It involves three Keys that I think are Vital to bringing a Garden to Life. 

Before you begin, you need to pick out the Containers that are most appealing to You! Once you find what works best for you, then consider size and area as well before you purchase. Also, don't limit  yourself by thinking Gardening is only for Outside...bring the Outside In! Especially during the Fall and Cold Winter Months...enjoy your Indoor Garden!

The Three Keys to Gardening with a Rustic Flavor are:

• Depth
• Dimension
• Light

If you look at a Primitive Bucket, or an Old Concrete Urn...it's not flat. It has Depth, Dimension, and Light. Just like a Painting, there is Depth, Dimension, and Light that can give your Garden that Special Flavor! Anyone can set a Bucket on the Ground, but why not Hang it, Tilt it, Angle it? What about an Old Wire Basket? You can hang it at an Angle on a Door or Wall, Fill it with Fresh Florals and use it as a Center Piece on your Garden Table!

Remember, that Containers are not only for Florals! Herbs can be grown inside as well! Here are a few Herbs that can grow at home: Basil, Borage, Caraway, Chives, Garden Cress,  Loveage, Lemon Balm, and more!

Just be sure that the Container that you choose is deep enough to hold the Soil needed for the roots to grow. If the container doesn't have drainage holes, put a layer of Creekstones in the Bottom to keep the Roots from getting too wet. Or, you can have holes put in the container for you.
