There are many variations on the Runic Alphabet. Three of the most common are:
- the Elder Futhark (c150-800CE)
- the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc (400-1100CE)
- the Younger Futhark (800-1100CE)
Runes as an alphabet appear to have emerged somewhere (their is some dispute regarding the time) in the 1st - 4th centuries. But evidence of runic hieroglyphs trace back thousands of years, across many cultures. Runic Divination, as it is now practiced, is largely influenced by the works of Stephen Flowers & Ralph Blum.
Some people believe that the answers found in Rune Casting are from a higher being, a guide, the universe, and others believe that the runes help us tap into our own intuition to find the answers. Whichever you believe, rune casting could be for you. You can use it as a form of meditation, self seeking, fortune telling, or just for fun. When you are on the fence about a decision, runes can help you choose the path most suite to your needs.
Focus on a question, shake the runes, and toss them about. They are now ready to be interpreted!
