Royal Copenhagen Figurine Quality check.
Royal Copenhagen figurines which do not meet the companies high quality requirements are marked as "seconds".
This is done by scratching through the 3 wavy blue lines of the factory mark. One scratch means a second with only a little problem, two scratches for a larger noticable problem and three scratches for
staff sales during the 1920's / 1930's.
Often the "seconds" scratch cannot be seen except under strong directional light. Usually the scratch can be felt with your finger nail when you feel over the wavy blue lines.
I have found it always prudent to request a seller to check and advise me the scratch test has been carried out before I bid.
