Roselane Pottery was founded in 1938 by William and Georgia Fields. They worked out of their Pasadena, CA home. Their first productions were figurines for the local florist trade but by the early 1940's their attractive figurines were finding a retail market and a factory was was built on Main Street in Pasadena.
Early on the main products were small items like candle holders and wall pockets. They also did modernistic animals on wood bases.
The Chinese Modern line of the forties included vases, bowls, figurines, wall pockets and other items in various high-gloss colors and combinations.
Roselane manufactured a very popular line from 1945 to 1952 called "Aqua Marine". It included stylized fish against an aqua or pink background. William Fields designed a very modern line of abstract animals on walnut bases in the mid 1950's which were not that popular with gift buyers but are very popular with collectors today.
When the present day 210 freeway was constructed it forced Roselane to relocate to Baldwin Park in 1968 where it remained until 1974. William Fields died in 1973 and the company was sold to Prather Engineering who moved operations to Long Beach before closing the doors in 1977.
