Another user fortunately has written a guide and I wanted to write one to follow up with a couple other items I noticed. I am assuming this is the same thief that was trying to rip off the other ebayer that wrote, but things I noticed that you need to watch out for also include:

1. Watch out for listings pointing you to other email addresses than the listing user.

2. The price is just WAY too good to be true - it isn't.

3. Hijacker is targetting Ebayers with Excellent feedback, meaning he is setting up fake Ebay auctions with legitimate Ebay user IDs.

4. Check out what the real Ebays users feedback says - this guy is saying he has lots of these, but why can't I see the real Ebayer history of any sales of these units? I would expect to see positive feedback if this was a legitimate auction.

5. USER ID Kept Private. This totally legitamite on Ebay, but I have seen 3 separate listings with this and the ad is almost exactly the same.

6. Seller wants you to send money using WESTERN UNION. Don't do it!! This is a common scam with these theifs.

7. Seller is shipping from Europe or is mysteriously out of country on business - I found this one when I was looking at an expensive Bike recently.

8. Use the Ebay contact system and only use Paypal if you can - especially with such a high ticket item.

9. Watch the English on these listings. Sometimes it is hard to notice, but something was just not quite right both times I almost got sucked in, once on the Bike I mentioned. When I read the one below, I ran for the hills!

10. Contact Ebay when you see these listings and help your fellow Ebayer and protect the real Ebay whose ID is being used for these scams. Contact ebay at the spoof email address they have. I could not include the link as the guide rejected it but it is spoof at ebay dot com.

Finally, just to give you an idea, here is the email response I got when I wrote to the address they requested I write to, and I did not contact the seller directly - shame on me - don't get sucked in like I almost did. This seller was willing to sell it for $800!! AND this clown said he would pay for shipping and handling --- from Europe?!

This is a $5,000 dollar system, and there is just no way they could possibly sell it that cheaply.
