Rock and Roll worth collecting

 This guide is an attempt to turn you on to some really good rock and roll, or to reacquaint you with some forgotton bands and records. I have listened to rock and roll mainstream as well as underground rock for decades, and have had quite a collection of music. If there is some good music and or bands that you feel deserve listing here, please let me know so that I can add them, or better yet, make another listing under your name. Long live rock!

Accept: "Balls To The Wall", they sound like AC/DC. they have other albums, I have only heard this one.

AC/DC: every album, Some argue that AC/DC was nothing after the death of Bon Scott, I think that Brian Johnson rocks, myself.

Aerosmith: every album, I prefer the older albums, "Draw The Line" and before, but they still rock.

Alice Cooper: "Welcome To My Nightmare", If you get only one AC album, get this one.

Alice In Chains: "Unpluggged", if you only get one AIC album, get this one, I would consider every album good.

Angel: Hard rocking debute album. '80s hair band.

April Wine: "Harder...Faster", They perform a great cover of "21st Century Schizoid Man", written by King Crimson. "I Like To Rock" is very good original material. "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen" is another good album.

Audioslave: "Audioslave",  Great music, from the ex-lead singer from Soundgarden.

Bad Company: every album, Discovered by Led Zeppelin, some say that BC was nothing without original lead singer from Free, Paul Rodgers, but I say Brian Howe did some very good rockin', like "Holy Water".

Bad Finger: every album, Sounds like the Beatles, band was discovered by the Beatles, what might have been had the guitarist not committed suicide?

Badlands: "Voodoo Highway",  The bands 2nd album with Ex-guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, Jake E. Lee, album rocks!

Billy Thorpe: "Children Of The Sun.Revisited", Heavy one-hit wonder, from Austrailia, worth a copy for the title track.

Black Sabbath: every album, What more to say? Ozzie and Iommi! They defined heavy metal in the '60 and '70s.

Blackfoot: "Strikes", No Rock and Roll album collection would be complete without a copy of this hard hitting album. Great cover of "I Got A Line On You" by Spirit. Ex-Lynyrd Skynyrd member Rick Medlocke.

Blind Faith: "Blind Faith", British Supergroup, Eric Clapton, ,Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, "Can't Find My Way Home", a must have.

Blue Oyster Cult: "Don't Fear The Reaper", "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Godzilla", a must have.

Blues Traveler: "Four",  If you get only one BT album, get this one.

Bonham: 'Mad Hatter", Son of Led Zeppelin Drummer John, Jason Bonham serves up some choice rock reminiscent of Led Zep.

Budgie: every album, hard rocking band from Great Brittain. "If I were Brittainia, I'd Waive The Rules".

Cactus: "Cactology", rockin' collection from a super group: Tim Bogart, Carmine Appice, Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck.

Captain Beyond: "Captain Beyond, exmembers of Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple and Johnny Winter Group scorch out some heavy Rock.

Cinderella: Once Upon A..(Best Of), Get this album, because you are "Nobody's Fool".

Collective Soul: "Hints, Allegations & Things Left Unsaid", "Shine" is the highlight of this album. worth the price to have.

Coverdale-Page: "Coverdale-Page", Album with the Merge sign on the cover, Whitesnake and Led Zep members belt out some good rock, "Pride And Joy" sounds as if Led Zep wrote it.

Creed: every album, Heavy hitting trio score big hits, with a christian style .

Damn Yankees: "Damn Yankees", ex-members of Styx, Night Ranger, and The Nuge himself; Ted Nugent, get this album! "Bad Reputation", "Coming Of Age", "High Enough".

Days Of The New: "Days Of The New", Hard rocking debute album, "Touch Peal And Stand", Shelf In The Room".

Deep Purple: every album, "Machine Head" is the quintessetial DP album, but other albums are as good, just not played on air as much. Check out "Perfect Strangers", "Burn" and "Stormbringer".

Def Leppard: every album, "High 'n Dry" is my altime favorite album, but they all rock! Check out "Desert Song" on "Retroactive"

Derek And The Dominoes: "Layla" (and other assorted love songs). Eric Clapton and Dwayne Allman!

Diamond Head: Hard Rocking debut album.

Dio: "Very Beast Of Dio", "Rainbow In The Dark" and other heavy hitters.

Disturbed:"The Sickness", If you like ROCK'n Hard, get this album!

Dokken: "Best Of", '80s hair bands never really die. "Into The Fire", "Just Got Lucky", others.

Donnie Iris: "Best Of", "Ah! Leah!", worth price of album for this one hit wonder.

EMF: "Schubert Dip", worth price for one hit wonder, "Unbelievable".

Europe: "1982-1992", two hit wonders, "Final Countdown", and "Carrie" from a '80s hair band.

Faith No More: "Best Of", "Epic" is a great song, album is filled with great music.

Filter: "Bus Fuse", "Hey Man, Nice Shot", makes this album worth the price. Rockin' album.

Foreigner: "Greatest Hits", must have '80's hair band music. "Cold As Ice", "Head Games", Dirty White Boy".

Gamma: "Best Of", Ronnie Montrose, Davey Pattison, hard rockers like "Meanstreak", "Four Horsemen", "Razor King".

Glen Hughes: "Soul Mover", ex-member of Trapeze, Black Sabbath, heavy offerings, like "Orion". title track.

Godsmack: "Godsmack", "Whatever", "Keep Away", a must have!

Great White: "Greatest Hits", '80s hair band, "Rock Me", Once Bitten Twice Shy", "Mista Bone".

Green Day: "International Superhits", Must have heavy rocking album. "Basket Case", "Brain Stew", "When I Come Around".

Guns N' Roses: "Greatest Hits", Must have! "November Rain", "Welcome To The Jungle".

Head East: "Best Of", "Never Been Any Reason" worth the price alone. "Get Up And Enjoy Yourself" rocks.

Iommi/Hughes: "Dep Sessions '96", ex-members of Trapeze and Black Sabbath join forces to blow you away. "Don't Drag The River". "Fused" is another good album, "Dopamine".

Iron Maiden: every album, "Killers" is my favorite, their 2nd album, a concept album. All their albums rock to the maximum.

Jack Green: "Humanesque", ex axeman from T-rex shows he is capable of rockin' alone, quite well.

Judas Priest: every album, "Metal Works" is my favorite, greatest hits like, "Breaking The Law", "Screaming For Vengence", You've Got Another Thing Coming".

King Crimson: "In The Court Of The Crimson King", A must have for every lover of heavy metal, title cut, "21st Century Schizoid Man".

Kingdom Come: "Kingdom Come",  Debute album, "Get It On", sounds like Led Zeppelin.

Kiss: "Smashes, Thrashes & Hits", Essential '80s hair band, "Detroit Rock City", "Lick It Up", "Heaven's On Fire", Rock And Roll All Night".

Krokus: "Definative Collection", THE '80s Hair Band! Rocks you hard with "Long Stick Goes Boom", "Headhunter", Screaming In The Night".

Led Zeppelin: every album, The undisputed kings of Heavy Rock and Roll. "Stairway To Heaven", Kashmir", "Whole Lotta Love", etc.

Legs Diamond: every album, hard rock band from LA. "A Diamond Is A Hard Rock"

Lenny Kravitz: "Greatest Hits", "Are You Goin' My Way", "Fly Away".

Live: "Throwing Copper", Amazing album! "I Alone", "Selling The Drama", "Lightening Crashes", "Pillar Of Davidson".

Loverboy: "Classics",  Essential '80s hair band! "Turn Me Lose", "Take Me To The Top", "The Kid Is Hot Tonight".

Metallica: every album,  Metallica, what more do I have to say?

Michael Schenker Group: "Essential", The brother of Rudolph, from the Scorpions, shows why he is known as the "Mad Axeman", he made the flying "V" guitar famous. "Cry For The Nations", Rock You Into The Ground".

Molly Hatchet: "Flirtin' With Disaster",  Must have southern hard rock album.

Montrose: "Montrose", every album is good with Sammy Hagar providing lead vocals, and Ronnie Montrose on lead guitar, but you must get a copy of the debut album, "Rock Candy" "Bad Motor Scooter"

Motley Crue: "Greatest Hits", Essential heavy metal lords, "Shout At The Devil", "Kickstart My Heart", "Wild Side", "Primal Scream".

Motorhead: "Very Best Of", Must have heavy metal. "Ace Of Spades", "Overkill".

Mott: "Drive On", I like this album, without lead singer Ian Hunter, Overland Watts heads revamped group.

Moxy: "Self-Destruction, Best Of",  Canada shows it can rock as heavy as the rest of them. " Sail On Sail Away", "Moonrider", "Can't You See I'm A Star".

Night Ranger: "Best Of", "Sister Christian", '80s hair band.

Nirvana: "Nirvana (Best Of)", every album.  Essential Alternative Seattle Rock.

Ozzy Osbourne: every album, Ozzy, what more can I say? ex Black Sabbath singer can still rock very hard.

Paris: "Paris", Amazing heavy offering from ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch, of soft touch "French Kiss" album fame. He shows that he can do Rock and Roll very heavy as well.

Pearl Jam: "Rearview Mirror-Best Of", Pearl Jam, what more can I say?, "Even Flow", "Jeremy", Yellow Ledbetter".

Pink Floyd: every album, "Dark Side Of The Moon", a must have. "Divsion Bell" just as good, I think.

Point Blank: "American Excess", Discovered by Bill Ham of ZZ Top fame, Houston Group dazzels with hard rocking songs. "Nicole".

Quiet Riot: "Metal Health", "Slick Black Cadillac", "Cum On Feel The Noise", "Love's A Bitch". essential '80s hair band, lead guitarist left Quiet Riot before this album was released, you may have heard of him: Rany Rhoads, of Ozzy Osbourn fame.

Ram Jam: "Very Best Of", Essential '80s hair band, "Black Betty", "Turn Pike", "Too Bad On Your Birthday".

Ratt: "Ratt & Roll 8191", Essential '80s hair band, "Round And Round", "Way Cool Junior", "Wanted Man".

Robin Trower: "Bridge Of Sighs", Essential '70s Heavy Rocker, title song, "Day Of The Eagle", "Too Rolling Stoned".

Rush: every album, "Today's Tom Sawyer", "Fly By Night", 2112 Overture", Essentail Canadian trio Very Heavy Rock And Roll.

Sammy Hagar: "Unboxed",  ex-member of Montrose, and Van Halen, shows us why he is called the "Red Rocker" with "Heavy Metal", "There's Only One Way To Rock", "Three Lock Box".

Scorpions, every album, These German rockers show us that Rock And Roll is understood in any language. "Animal Magnetism", Rock You Like A Hurricane", "Blackout".

Silverchair: "Frogstomp", I like this hard rocking album. "Tomorrrow", "Pure Massacre".

Skid Row: "Skid Row", Essential '80s hair band. "18 and Life", "I Remember You".

Slaughter: "Best Of", Essential '80s hair band. "Up All Night", "Fly To The Angels".

Soundgarden: every album, Chris Cornell before he left to form Audioslave. Hard rocking essentials! "Fell On Black Days",  "Outshined", "Spoonman", "Black Hole Sun".

Southern Rock Allstars: "Danger Road", 2nd album, by the supergroup consisting of ex-members from Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet and Lynyrd Skynyrd."Tough Situation", "Stump Jumpin'", "The Hill".

Stone Temple Pilots: every album, But make sure you have their debut album "Core" at the very least. "Creep", "Plush".

Ted Nugent: "Ted Nugent", Essential guitar axe slinger's debut solo album, "Stranglehold", "Hey Baby".

Tesla: every album,  Great heavy rockin' band! "Edison's Medicine", "Mama's Fool", "Little Suzi".

The Firm: "The Firm", Jimmy Page and Paul Rogers, "Radioactive", a must have supergroup effort.

The Smashing Pumpkins; "Rotten Apples, Best Of", Essential rock. "Today", "1979".

Tom Cochrane and Red Rider: Trapeze, The Collection",  I purchased this three disc set, just to have the two songs I like together, "Lunatic Fringe", and "Life Is A Highway" other songs are good.

Tone Loc: "Loc-ed After Dark", I like "Wild Thing", and "Funky Cold Medina".

Triumph: "Just A Game", Essential '80s hair band, title song, "Lay It On The Line". also "Classics" album, "Hold On", "Magic Power", "Fight The Good Fight".

UFO: "Essential", Michael Schenker heads this '70s heavy rocking band, "Rock Botom", "Doctor Doctor" , "Too Hot To Handle".

Uriah Heep: "Travellers In Time-Essential", '70s hair band, heavy rockers, "Stealin'", "Easy Livin'", "Paradise/The Spell".

Van Halen: every album, Some don't like "Van Hagar", I do. It's not the original VH, but it still rocks. "Jump", "Feelin'", "Unchained".

Velvet Revolver: "Velvet Revolver", ex lead singer Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots joins forces with Slash from Gun's And Roses to blow you away.

Victor: "Victor", I don't know how the album came to be known as "Victor", but you and I know Alec Lifeson from Rush when we hear him play that mean guitar.

Warrant: "Best Of", Essential '80s hair band. "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

White Lion: "Best Of", Essential '80s hair band. "When The Children Cry", "Wait". Sounds like Led Zeppelin.

Whitesnake: "Greatest Hits", Essential '80s hair band. "Still Of The Night", "Here I Go Again", "Love Ain't No Stranger".

Wishbone Ash: "Wishbone Ash",  1970 was a good year for prog. rock. This debut album is a must have. "Queen Of Torture".

Zebra: "Zebra", Essential '80s hair band. "Tell Me What You Want", "Who's Behind The Door".
