Ease of Use: The Nova Wah is like having two fixed wahs on you pedal board, however you can set each wah sound for each channel and toggle back and forth. You simply preset each wah channel by turning the control to make it sound more like toe up or toe down like a wah pedal. Then you can adjust the volume/mid with another control. It also has two switches, the first controls the bass response with 3 different settings, the second let's you choose between single or dual inductors for your custom wah sound. Takes very little tweaking to get going. The led's are great for knowing where your at...4 different colors and it really looks great on stage. The instructions can be viewed at Robert's web site. This is easy to use, allthough it sounded like it would be harder to figure out than what it is, the instructions give you the layout of the basics with a few examples to get you cooking.
Sound Quality: This is where it counts..this effect when not being used is in bypassed mode. This will also be the hardest to explain...you see we have all utilized or wahs in a fixed position at one tim eor another...however..I found turning my wah pedal on and off and finding the exact position a hard task and I woul dget som estrange sounds in between. With the Nova Wah those days are history, now I turn it on and it is set and sounds much better than a fixed wah pedal..I use a teese and it sounds good for wah work...but with the Nova you can adjust the bass and the overall volume of the effect in adavnce and for lead work or chords...your in the pocket with this one. The dual inductor or single inductor is a Keeley idea and what a great one it is..the daul setting get's you a heavy vocal sound and when you toggle betwwen the settings you can really come up with some musically ideas. I mostly use the channels where they or more toe up on one and toe down on the other...I use the 3 way bass switch to get different tones from the same wah settings and it really changes the dynamics of the effect. This is a wondeful effect and has changed my thoughts on how I thought I would use it, during gigs it has cut through the mix for solos so well that I find myself soloing much of the time with it...as I toggle between the channels during the solo's the muscially part of the effect really shines through...I put mine right after my wah pedal and those both go first in the chain for me. I have a Keeley BD-2 and this Nova simply loves any OD/Fuzz/Distortion I throw at it. I mostly use my BD-2 and a Time Machine Boost and Keeley Fuzz Head..the Nova blends with these so well that after my first gig with this pedal..the audience noticed. My bass player and drummer love it..and they don't like many of my boxes...so that means something. The overall sound will blow you away...reason being that there are so many options within this effect yet when you play it live it is simply to use and simply to get those favorite settings right back. I use my Keeley CE-2 Speedy Mod like most people use a vibe...and this takes you into new and unchartered waters with the Nova Wah. This Nova Wah sounds clear not muddy, it has a 10+ for tweakability factor, and get a 10+ for being able to dial in the great sound quality with ease.
Reliability: Robert Keeley sets the bar high when it come to quality products and customer service. His staff rocks and so do his products. Robert will be around to fix it should the unlikey event occur.
Customer Support: I have been buying Keeley's since 1999, got a bunch of his mods and his own lineup...Java Boost, Compressor, Fuzz Head and Time Machine Boost...and now the Nova Wah.....Robert is passionate about his trade, his customers and their tone! It is no wonder why so many people love their Keeley's ~ Robert puts Customers first!
Overall Rating: The other aspect of this Nova Wah is also how great the paint job is...I got the Carbon Finish and it just blows folks away...I know a paint job does not make it sound better....not that you could make this sound any better. But man..it just looks great and makes me feel good looking at it.....I gig a lot and this Nova Wah is here to stay..it has become part of my sound. I love tube amps and 6L6's and this just shines with tubes. Some will think this is a one trick pony effect..not so..it will open up a bigger world to you. Making music makes me feel good. This Nova Wah helps me do just that and just happens to not only look great but sounds remarkable...this is a remake of Keeley' Yellow YeeHaw ..try finding one of those..with a ton more options and this will be as sought after as the best Mutron gear is today. It is a total blast to play. Get one if you can. Robert Keeley Rocks!
