In response to the 2480 warning I'd like to add - While the 2480 is a hard dive based recording system - it is infinetly more dependable than PC base systems (ie protools, cakewalk etc).
It IS a good idea to back up, but don't let this scare you away from this format. If you keep your operating software up to date (free upgrades from roland) it is extremely unlikely that you will experience data loss. I have had 2 of these units, and in the 100's of hours of recording that I've done, i have never once had a data loss issue. I did with one of the early saftware versions have to send my hard drive to Roland to have data extracted, but even then had no data loss - and that situation stemmed from the CD burner that I was using not being fully compatible with the software I was running.
All in all the 2480 is by far the most dependable digital recording system I've ever used - I would highly recomend it to anyone serious about recording. It is a very versitile recording and editing work station, and with it's portablity it can serve as a valuable addition to your studio.
