Rising ebay fees caused me to change payment policy!

Ya'll know it just plain sucks that ebay keeps finding new ways to get our pennies from our pockets as time goes on. I find it frustrating that my sales don't seem to go up near as fast and just like being in an antique mall somewhere along the way the dealer has to either raise prices to cover the higher cost of display or lower cost in hopes of getting quicker turnarounds, but either way ebay is getting more and more like real life selling. That just plain sucks! However I've found a method to at least make sure I start getting paid faster. It's not new news, but it works. Take advantage of ebay policies. It's legal and its your right as a seller to do so. I'm cracking down on bidders who win and then take forever to pay. I have had for quite awhile a paypal account set up. I don't make any money off this, but ebay does and it's strictly a convenience for the buyer.  Ebay has a policy of contact being made within 3 days after a sale. I always contact when I buy and expect it when I sell. I send my invoices out immediately, usually within 24 hours. If after 3 days I get no contact whatsoever from my winning bidder I send them a second invoice with an attached message about ebay's policy on contact. If I don't hear from them by the 7th day I now automatically file a Non Paying Bidder Alert. This usually wakes people up and gets me paid. It also gives them more time to make payment if they contact me. If the bidder responds to the NPB Alert it becomes my option to either wait for payment or end the dispute at which time I'll get my Final Value Fees back and get to re-list free or offer a second chance if there had been more than one bidder. Unfortunately the percentages are pretty low that the second highest bidder will buy. People move on quickly and can usually find the item they wanted elsewhere on ebay faster than you can get positioned to offer your item again. As far as dealing with the NPB  I personally don't give negative feedbacks unless thye just be big dummies talking lots of trash to me, although this is an option. It's my opinion that the Unpaid Item Strike the bidder gets is far more damaging to their credability than me giving a neg. hit. Ebay has proven to this seller more than once that they are more concerned with making money than policing lazy bidders, or even lousy sellers.  Ebay will remove a person faster if they have a history of non-payment than if they get a series of negative feedbacks. If you are a part-time seller and have a "real job", thats great, maybe you can afford to wait, but if this is what you do for a living then it becomes a different story. Remember this rule: It should always be about business and not to be personal. Hope this helps you some. It's working for me.
