WATCH OUT FOR LOW STARTING BIDS!

Some sellers will list their item at a low price for a quick sale at a 'buy it now price.'  What you don't know is that this "good buy" could include exorbitant shipping & handling fees not actually associated with the shipping cost of the product you won!

CHECK OUT THE SHIPPING & HANDLING COSTS BEFORE YOU BUY!

What you need to look for, in the ad, is an actual price in the shipping column.  If it says the shipping amount is in the ad, find it before bidding!  Please!   It may be hard to find and  you will be in a hurry to be the first one to purchase this "good buy."  So you impulsively purchase before finding the shipping price.  I have done it so I know!

After you hurried and purchased your "good buy" and proceed to pay at checkout, you will see the shipping and handling fee is too high in some cases!  In my case it was a small perfume with a $15.00 shipping charge for  a first class package to be mailed! And I  purchased 3 perfumes! 3 x $15.00 = $45.00!  My package weighed less than a pound!

Also, be careful of calculated shipping costs!  This sounds like you are getting an exact post office shipping cost from one zipcode to another.  But the seller can add on any "handling fee" to this calculated shipping cost.  All you need to do is not be in a hurry and actually click on the box to find out what exactly your shipping charge will be!

INSURANCE CHARGES

Some sellers require insurance or you may want to purchase it on your own.  This is all fine in itself.  But make sure that if you paid for it that you get it!  The ebay rule is that sellers can only charge the actual post office insurance amount.  The label will say insured if insurance was purchased!  You need to know this!

SUMMARY

Check out your shipping, handling and insurance costs BEFORE purchasing!  It is that simple!  Make sure you are getting what you pay for!  It is now an actual reportable ebay offense for sellers to overcharge on shipping and handling!

I hope my guide was helpful to you.  If you thought it was please click yes on the helpful link!  This will give this guide a higher rating and help keep shipping and handling costs DOWN!
