"Presonus Eureka"
This is just a small review but I hope it will be helpful for some artists out there.
- I've had the pleasure of using the Eureka channel strip for several years on guitars, vocals, kick drum and overheads. The sound is comparable to higher end Avalon units without the Tubular sound. Recently we've been using this on guitar and bass. I've been able to dial in a really tight and thick guitar sound without clipping, and I've been using it more and more over other preamps.
- The compressor and EQ give you the ability to customize tone, headroom and Q. It has a soft button as well as bypass to put the EQ before or after the compression. It's really fun to experiment with an entire range of different guitar sounds, and then boost the gain for a thick signal, without normalizing the track.
- There are higher end preamps on the market out there, but you can't beat the price and funcionality. Make sure the manual is included if purchasing, as you'll find it as an good reference point when starting out. The Presonus Eureka is an amazing channel strip. I really like the job it did on our latest track Rivals to Nothing. It was used on vocals, drum overheads, and bass guitar.
