Review: High School Musical Card Box
Yes, I know - this isn't a sportscard product, but my daughter - like yours probably did too - asked me to get them for her. I bought a box of the cards which contained 24 packs. Each pack has 7 cards per pack with 3 of the cards as stickers.
UPDATE (10/16/07): Get these cards while you can!! Almost every source I can find verifies that these cards are near impossible to find. Boxes are really starting to skyrocket and sets and singles are moving very well!! I admit that I didn't think this was worth breaking for dealers, but it might be now... DB
After breaking a box I have this to say, if you are a dealer, sell the packs. If you are a collector break the packs and have a good time. There is a regular sticker set of 30 stickers and then there are Glitter stickers (1:6 packs) and Felt stickers also seeded at one in six packs. There are also Kiss-cut stickers which are seeded about 1 in every other pack. The costume cards of Troy and Chad are seeded 1:63 packs which is one in approximately 3 boxes.
From the box I was able to make one card set which is 50 cards. I made one regular sticker set of 30 stickers and then I had a handful of the Kiss-cut stickers though nowhere near a full set. I did pull 4 Glitter stickers and 4 Felt stickers. I did not pull a costume card.
The card set features scenes from both movies and are very well done. I absolutely love the sticker-heavy packs as my daughter will put the stickers on her schoolbooks. She will look at the cards, but the fun is in the stickers. Do not chase the costume cards. The cards are based on Troy and Chad's golf uniforms from HSM2 so all you'll get is an exceptionally bland white piece of fabric. I'm also not sure why they only used those two characters. I would think that young girls - who are the target market - would want Gabriella and Sharpay costume cards (and Kelsi and Taylor as well).
My final thought is that this is a good product for kids to break. The packs are not expensive and they are well done. If you are a dealer hoping to put together sets and pull the costume cards, I wouldn't take the time to bust it. Let the kids enjoy doing that..
Hope this helps all you parents out there. Go Wildcats!!
