After many months of searching, reading and learning about shea butter and a couple of hundred dollars, I have found the creamiest Shea Butter! It is so luxurious that I want to throw it in my tub and wallow like a pig! (as a matter of fact..I DID!)

Shea butter also helps cell regeneration and capillary circulation. I first tried shea butter for the most obvious reasons, dry aging skin and brittle nails with thick cuticles. After just one application my hands were pleasingly renewed, but after three days, they actually looked like they belonged to someone else. I could not stop looking at them. It wasn't long until I noticed that my hands no longer went with my body! So I started applying it all over, especially elbows, knees and feet. My skin actually looks twenty years younger. Then I realized what I had in this wonderful product so I started reaching it. That's how I learned that it was safe to apply it to my face.

MASSAGE WITH ANTI INFLAMATORY, I HAVE SUFFERED WITH CHRONIC PAIN DAILY AFTER being struck by a teenage drunken driver in 1998. I will not take medication so I just had to learn to manage my life around my pain. Then just a few months ago I got a massage using pure unrefined shea butter. For the first time in all those years I knew what it was like to be totally pain free again and it lasted for days!

I am now experimenting on repairing sun damaged skin using 100% pure unrefined shea butter. This could be a long process because I worshipped the sun since I was a small child. I have severe sun damage on my neck. So far it has softened the alligator skin feel and made my neck smooth again. Most of the redness is gone.I will have to do an update to keep you informed of the progress and the total healing process of my abused skin. Until then..start your own experience with this African Wonder healing shea butter rather it be in alone or in your products use only 100% raw and unrefined.

This shea butter is noted for it's exceptional freshness and the high standards of quality during production.Produced in Savannah using traditional methods and made using shea nuts gathered in the wild, this is an unrefined Shea Butter - meaning it retains the healing and restorative power often processed out of a more refined Shea Butter. I SELL ONLY UNREFINED!

A highly refined shea butter is usually
white and no longer has the characteristic
nutty smell of unrefined shea butter(the characteristic odor
disappears as the shea butter is worked into your skin or hair)

How to Apply Shea Butter

For direct application to the skin, take a small amount
in the palm of you hand. Rub your hands together to warm
up the butter until it is smooth and liquid. Then apply
to your skin.
If you are concerned about an oily feeling, use only a small
amount or apply the shea butter before going to bed. Shea
butter absorbs quickly into the skin, but there will be a few
minutes that it feels oily.
Shea butter can also be applied to your hair. Some people
apply it before washing to protect the hair from harsh shampoos.
It can also be applied after washing as a conditioner.
Apply it in the same manner as to the skin.

ALLERGY WARNING: when using any natural product in it's raw form
one must be cautious if they are sensitive to nuts or latex.
Although the quantities of latex in shea butter are very small, this natural latex is responsible for the ?sealing? property that shea butter has to aid in protecting your skin and preventing sun allergies.

Variation in Shea Butter: Hardness

Shea butter is basically composed of two fatty acids, stearic and oleic, which together account for 85-90% of the total fatty acids. The relative proportions of these two fatty acids determine hardness of the shea butter. Stearic acid is solid, while oleic acid is a liquid at room temperature. Therefore, shea butter with a higher oleic content will be softer than shea butter with a low oleic content.

The proportions of stearic and oleic acids in the shea kernels and butter differ across the distribution range of the species. Shea butter from Central Africa has consistently high oleic acid content, and is liquid at warm ambient temperatures. The fatty acid proportion of West African shea butter is much more variable than Central African shea butter. In West African shea butter, the oleic content ranges from 37 to 55%, while the stearic content can vary from 25 to 50% (Maranz et al 2004). This means that the hardness of shea butter from West Africa, which is where the vast majority of shea butter and nuts are produced, can vary significantly.

Even shea butter from one region, such as the central region of Togo can vary in hardness. This is because an individual tree that produces hard butter can be located right next to one that produces soft butter. Since shea nuts are gathered from a wide area for local production, the shea butter consistency is determined by the average fatty acid contents of the region.

We have also found that the age of the shea nuts can also impact the solidity and consistency of the shea butter. In our own production, shea butter that is produced from nuts that are three months old or less will be much harder than shea butter produced from older nuts. In fact, we have found that shea butter from nuts that have been stored at least on season is much softer and creamier than shea butter from non-aged nuts.

The healing and moisturizing ability of shea butter is not affected by the hardness, since this is determined by the ratios of the two main fatty acids, and the unsaponifiable content is similar across fresh unrefined, handcrafted shea butters.

Once the shells are removed, the shea kernels are dried for storage and shea butter making throughout the year. If the kernels are properly dried, they have a shelf life of 5 years or more. In fact, the shea nuts from the previous season produce more oil and a creamier textured butter since they have a lower moisture content.
