Recently, I have had good results with a fellow named Chris Vaughn of Huntington Beach,California. This man makes spare parts that are otherwise impossible to get for Cox Thimble Drome Prop Rods,Shrikes and Texaco Tankers.
He has constructed the molds and can produce the clear plastic canopies, steering wheels and engine nacelles for the Cox tether cars and also the masts, rudder, and propellors on the old Texaco Tankers. With out him,we would have no source for these old classis models.
Many times on e-bay and elsewhere you can pickup these old Prop rod and Shrike tether cars and Texaco tankers, but, more often than not, the canopies are either broken or missing completely. Also the steering wheels are gone. That's because the cars go so darn fast in a circle that they either crashed or flew off from all the centrifical force. Iam 51 years old now and remember quite well losing my canopy windshield and steering wheel numerous times. But, back in 1969, they were easily obtainable from Cox factory for a few bucks. Now, those times and the factory are long gone. Entrepauneurs like Chris Vaughn have realized a demand for such hard to get parts and made them available again. THANK YOU CHRIS VAUGHN!
