So, you bought a skin, either from us or from another manufacturer, and then for whatever reason you removed it only to find that it left a whole lot of sticky adhesive goo all over your expensive game system. What do you do now?!
Don't panic...
The adhesive that is used on some skins, including the chrome foil skins that we sell, is a very agressive adhesive and it actually adheres better to most game system surfaces that it does to the back side of the film that your skin is made of. Removing these skins usually results in the adhesive being left behind on your system. So how can you get it off? Well, we can't speak for skins made by other manufacturers but what we have found to work well for our skins may also work for others. Here's what you do
Get some clear shipping tape
First, get a roll of clear shipping tape. We've found that 3M brand works the best. Cover the entire sticky surface with the tape, pressing it down very firmly with a hard rigid plastic object (a sign squeegee works great if you have one), then very slowly peel the tape off. If you peel it off too fast it will not remove the adhesive from your system, however, if you peel it off very slowly and you had it firmly pressed down it will remove all of the adhesive from your game system. If there are any small spots of adhesive that remain, just repeat the process on those areas, making sure to press the tape down firmly and peel if off slowly. Using this process you can completely remove all of the sticky adhesive goo from your game system in about 5 minutes, leaving it looking like new.
Don't use adhesive remover!
Some other skin manufacturers recommend using adhesive remover to remove the adhesive from your game system. We strongly discourage this! Adhesive remover will remove the adhesive but it does so by dissolving the adhesive and it can also dissolve the plastic that the adhesive is on, making a much bigger mess. Furthermore, the tape removal method described above does not work very well if you have first tried using adhesive remover. Do yourself a favor, don't use adhesive remover on your game system!
