I have found that most "home remedies", i.e. brake fluid, solvents, parts washer fluid etc., don't work very well, are frustrating to use, take way too much time experimenting with non-essential parts to make sure the "stuff" wont damage the important parts, and can be expensive to purchase not to mention dispose of.
There is a product out there that is a perfect fit for me. I enjoy finding and restoring old, out of production model kits. I really like to take a formerly poorly built kit or an old built kit that is deteriorating, and re-doing it to suit my taste. This aspect of the model building hobby is reliant upon the ability to remove old paint, sometimes including multiple coats, thick coats, poor quality paint, all of the worst paint jobs.
To my delight, I stumbled across a product at a hobby store in Rapid City, South Dakota. It's called Chameleon model paint stripper. It is made by a company of the same name, Chameleon, and it is available on line at Chameleonproductsonline.com. I am in no way affiliated with this company, other than a devoted customer and fan.
The paint stripper is re-useable, bio-degradeable, works fast, is gentle on all plastic and most other model building materials and it simply works. So if you are like I used to be, tired of the messy guessing game and just want something that really works and wont ruin your rare or irreplacable model kit, this is your answer. Again, that's Chameleon Products Online .com. Check it out, order some stuff, you'll be glad you did! Thanks for reading my Guide!
