Home wine makers have struggled with this one forever. We at Love Your Label have come up with a tip sheet to make this easier.
Step 1 - Label removal
Fill a sink with very hot water. Run the hot water over your wine bottles while filling the sink and this will speed up the process.
You will notice a change in label colour as they become saturated with water. Remove the bottle from the sink and drain the water.
Use a straight edge pastry cutter/dough scraper to scrape the labels off the bottles. We've tried alot of different methods and this is the best tool for the home wine maker. Very easy to use.
Love Your Label labels do not require step one as they can simply be peeled off of the bottle when you have finished your wine. To remove pull each corner of the label to the center then peel from top to bottom. Use a slow steady motion to avoid ripping the label.
Step 2 - Removing the adheasive
Most labels especially commercial labels will leave an adheasive on your bottles. The easiest way to remove this is with a good biodegradable non toxic all purpose cleaner. Apply it to the area where the adheasive rests and let sit for approx. 1 min. Then use an abrasive cloth or scrub brush to remove the gummy adheasive. Rince the bottle and reapply if some adheasive remains.
Happy wine making everyone and have a look for Love Your Label Labels they will make your wine make experience just that much easier.Love Your Label wine labels
