~How to Have a Spa-like Experience in Your Own Home~
A day at the spa or a trip to a relaxing resort can be one of the most pampering, enjoyable times a woman can have. But when your schedule and your budget don't leave room for professional indulgence, you can still destress and relax with our at-home spa guide. All you need is 45 minutes free of noise and distractions. In other words, hang a do not disturb sign on the door if you have to!
Preparation:
-Once you are ready to soak in the tub, you won't want to be interrupted by forgetting something. So prepare your bathroom or other area with lotion, candles, etc. before you get in the tub.
Set your surroundings:
-Relaxing is all about what you are hearing, watching, smelling, feeling and even tasting. If you are a music person, plug a stereo into the bathroom outlet (no where near the water!) and turn on some soft music that calms you. If you'd rather read, choose a book or magazine that you know you'll enjoy.
-Light a couple candles and then dim or shut off the lights. If strong fragrances give you headaches, you can still achieve the same calming glow with unscented candles.
-Choose your favorite scent of bubble bath and pour a few capfuls into warm running water in your bath tub.
-Wet a washcloth with cold water and set it within reach. After soaking in hot water for a while you may want to cool your face with the cloth.
Keep yourself hydrated:
-Choose something to drink, whether it be a hot cup of tea, or something cold to refresh you in the hot water. Just try to stay away from caffeine as it will dehydrate you...and your goal is to relax!
Take your time:
-Be sure to allow yourself enough time to really relax and destress. Leave work, family situations, etc. at the door. This hour is for you to unwind. Take some deep breaths and let your body release tension.
Get comfortable:
-If you'll feel better nice and clean, go ahead and wash up. Using a loofa to exfoliate your skin can also help ease tension. Shave your legs and underarms if that will make you feel better as well. Just be sure to make time for washing up and still have time to soak. The main point of your bath is to lay your head back and relax, not to wash your hair and shave.
When you are finished:
-Dry off and slather yourself with your favorite body lotion. Choose a fragrance like Lavender or Eucalyptus that will help relax you. We recommend Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy line of relaxing fragrances.
