Regarding Domain Names and Web Hosting:
If you are searching for web hosting, always choose reliability over price.
This is not to say that reliability has to come at a high price.
Today there are quite a few choices that offer both reliability bargain pricing.
If you are serious about your website, you cannot afford to deal with hosts who
tend to have down-time.
The last thing you want, is for visitors to go to your web address and find nothing.
The majority of web visitors will probably NEVER return.
And with that, you have lost potential business.
The absolute worst thing for a website, is to one day realize that your
web-host has gone out of business!
Well, I suppose NOT finding out would be even worse.
You need only do a simple search and you will find numerous horror stories
from webmasters who lost their websites, domain names, businesses,
web ranking...you name it!
This seems to happen more frequently with smaller web-hosts,
but is by no means limited to the "little guys".
There have been some fairly big names who've disappeared, seemingly overnight;
some with little or no notice leaving their clients stranded.
Such an occurrence can cripple a website or business severely.
. Rule number one...Always have at least one BACK-UP copy of all your files.
. Rule Number 2...choose your host wisely.
Backing up up your files could mean the difference between going offline
for a while and losing your website forever. Choosing a more reliable host can lessen your risk altogether.
Do not wait to find out from experience, like I once did.
This is certainly one of those times when it pays to
do your due diligence.
When searching for a registrar, it is important that you do some research on that too.
If you are planning to resell a domain name after purchase or somewhere
down the line, always ask the registrar questions about domain name transfers.
The more red-tape and fees involved, the more inconvenient it will be for you
and your buyer when it comes time to sell and transfer the domain.
Please read my Guide on Domain Name Registrars for more information on this subject.
