Like most sports jerseys, they run large - a 48 fits a regular adult-male nicely (I'd equate it to a large).
About the Red Sox Logo design: Two hanging red socks with white heels and toes, over a white baseball surrounded by the words Boston and Red Sox. The word Boston is in navy blue outlined in red, the words Red Sox are in red outlined in navy blue, and the entire logo is surrounded by a thick red circle. Recently the team has begun phasing in a new logo that removes the outline, text and baseball, leaving only the pair of red socks.

The Red Sox Home Jersey is white with a red stripe down each side of the chest. On the front of the jersey is the Red Sox name in red stitching. The Home Red Sox Jersey looks great - but I am hesitant to buy one because they show dirt and markings very easily -after all, they are very white! Red Sox Jerseys: The Away Jersey
The Away Jersey is probably the most popular of the Red Sox Jerseys - its gray and has 'BOSTON' stitched across the chest in red print. Unlike the home jersey, the Red Sox Away Jersey has no stripes on the chest but does have double red lining on the sleeves. The gray color holds up nicely over time and withstands washing and wear & tear. Note: player's last names appear on the back of the Away Jersey above the player number!
Red Sox Jerseys: The Alternate Jersey
Like the NBA & NFL, Major League Baseball introduced the alternative jersey to sell extra merchandise. Final Thoughts on Buying a Red Sox Jersey
Buying your first Red Sox Jersey is a big deal (especially if you live in New York or have lots of Yankees friends)! My suggestion is first and foremost to shop on eBay - I got my David Ortiz Jersey (as noted above) for 25% of the retail price. Look for trusted sports seller, Red Sox stores, or Jersey shops. Finally, if you are able to afford it - the authentic Red Sox Jerseys are leaps and bounds better than the Replicas. Authentic jerseys last longer, look better, feel nicer, and - of course - are authentic.
