We all want to prepare and serve excellent dishes at our parties and gatherings, dishes that people will rave about. Here are couple that are sure to get you some compliments (and maybe a few overeaters, but hey! cant have everything lol)
Southern Style Crab Cakes
Ingredients: 14 ounces flaked crabmeat
2 slices bread, torn into 1/4 inch peices
1/2 cup biscuit baking mix
and 1/3 cup baking mix
1/2 cup mayonaisse or salad dressing
1 egg
1/2 tsp worchestershire sauce
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp paprika
2 tbsp butter or margarine
seafood or tartar sauce
Mix the crabmeant, the bread, baking mix, the mayonaisse, egg, worchestershire, salt, and paprika. Drop by 1/3 cups into that 1/3 cup baking mix, turning to coat all sides. Shape into cakes
Heat butter in 10 inch skillet over meadium heat till its melted. then, fry your cakes for 10-15 mins till golden brown.
Serve with tartar or seafood sauce!
Turkey Rachels
Ingredients: 1/4 cup Thousand island dressing
8 slices pumpernickel or rye bread
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices cooked turkey
1 cup coleslaw
soft butter or margarine
Spread salad dressing over 1 side of each bread slice. Arrange chese, turkey, and coleslaw on half of the slices. top with remaining slices, Spread butter over outsides of sandwiches. brown sandwiches on both sides on low till golden and cheese is melted. Cut into fingersandwiches, and serve!
Pineapple Fruit Whip
ingredients: 1 20 oz pineapple tidbits (drain and save syrup)
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 small container marshmallow whip
1 small container coolwhip
1/2 cup cut up dates
1/2 cup flaked coconut
sliced apple and banana
Heat 3/4 cup of pineapple syrup, cornstarch, and ginger to boiling, stirring CONSTANTLY. boil and stir one minute, and cool.
Mix together marchmallow and coolwhip. Fold pineapple syrup mixture into topping, then fold in pineapple, dates, and coconut. cover and refridgerate for one hour.
Serve with apple and banana slices, and use several for a pattern on the top of the tip as garnish!
