This is a guide for those that have may of received a suspicious email......

1. Want to deal with someone that has a client interested in your item ?
2. Someone wants to buy your item and want it sent to their relative in an international location ?
3. I hit the jackpot, my buyer sends me excess amount of money and wants me to keep the rest ?
4. Western Union or Money order, instant cash!!! ?

If you have said ok to some of these then you should be cautious on the transaction you are in.

Well for some of you, it may be obvious, but for some of us new members we may be gullible and continue on with these requests.

For the first and second question, there has been a common style of suspicious emails that the person is working or living in another country and wants you to send your item to another location. Some of these types of emails are called Nigerian scams because they want you to send your item to...well Nigeria. But not all Nigerian scams are directed to Nigeria, these types can be directed to anywhere around the world. I don't want everyone to discourage everyone from conducting an international transaction, as you can ruin your buying/selling experience.

For the third question, some types of suspicious emails you may encounter is when the person wants to send you an excess amount of money and asks you to send the rest to another person. This is common that the sender uses fraudulent funds to send you the money in a form of money order or western union.

The last question, it is most likely that the suspicious email may use Western Union or money order to send their fraudulent funds to you. This is risky cause there is an unlikly chance that there is no recourse if your transaction becomes fraudulent.

What can you do to safe guard yourself ?
Vertify all payments received, even if it takes a week or so. Kindly tell your seller or buyer that you are just keeping it safe for yourself.
Also if your an avid seller, decline any buyer's request to ship items immediately. I understand you want to give the buyer the benefit of the doubt but it's risky to send your item without receiving your $$$

If any of you are concern about any of these situation, check it out in the eBay help sections of fraud or in eBay pulse. This is where I got most of this information. I hope everyone has a save transaction.  Going through a fraudulent transaction isn't fun, trust me.

Thanks for reading and happy eBaying !
