I would like to start this guide for many reasons, but the most important reason is for Honesty and Quality.

If you are a new collector / doll artist OR an advanced collector / doll artist, Please consider reading this guide.

This guide is also a great source for sellers listing dolls or doll parts for sale on ebay.

Those who are looking to purchase a doll on ebay that they will use to reborn - newborn Please UNDERSTAND that the most important thing to look at first is the items quality. This involves a few things, if the item is TRULY an ACCEPTABLE quality (Industry Standard ) what is truly USED by doll artist or reborn artist or for reborn / newborning QUALITY Items that you could actually later sell that would be considered an artist doll or reborn doll.

The Doll Artist community is EXTREMELY conscientious about what materials artist use to make these artist dolls.

Almost every artist has a preference as to which materials they will BUY or USE However, The artist FIRST choice is highest quality available (meaning ) either in True Reborn Doll Kit form or High Quality Dolls, (most) Silicone Dolls, (most) Berenguer Dolls (most) Middleton Dolls (Some) Masterpiece Dolls (All) Secrist Dolls (some) Zapf Dolls (Specific) Anne Geddes Dolls  (Some) Gotz Dolls (most) Dollmaker & Friends Dolls and a few other doll makers. I will go into the list of dolls and the artist restrictions and complications when buying and using these dolls in next guide.

To start when Selling a Doll, Doll Kit or Doll Parts I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH PLEASE Do NOT use Reborn in the Listing Title UNLESS IT IS SPECIFIC to the field of Reborn Doll making. Not only do you look extremely silly to the buyers, but you honestly Negatively seal your own fate as a seller when you list items that do not qualify in the reborn art world. Understand Not one person should or will purchase your items because they truly know better and when you do list and try to to pass off items that are not used in the field you will never be looked at again nor will anyone ever consider you as a valuable member.

Both the Artists and Collectors are very serious and do not take nicely to being fooled, mislead, or misguided in anyway shape or form.

The doll artist community is extremely close everyone truly is connected in one way or another. How you are valued as a seller is solely up to your honest intentions.

If a seller or buyer needs help almost every member WOULD help you if they do not feel threatened by you or consider you as just as an intruder or someone who has no intentions of complying to the standards or if they believe you are just using up their valuable time.

When Items are Listed you truly NEED to do the following and PLEASE Check BEFORE Listing the items.

Do not DISMANTLE a Doll and think you can list it as a Reborn doll Kit because it is NOT

Adding items does NOT make it a Reborn Doll Kit -  

There are Kits SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED AS a REBORN Doll KIT so if yours is Not then do not list it as such.

NEED to show CLOSE UP picture of the Dolls ENTIRE HEAD (remove all hats everything)

NEED to Explain the type of hair (Glued on wig) (sewn in machine) (needle rooted holes)ECT

NEED to show CLOSE up of FACE especially Eyes & Mouth (explain eyes)(Glass) (Plastic) ECT

NEED to list the Doll Manufacturer and Dolls Name (Berenguer -Middleton - Gotz) ECT

If the doll can not be validated it is unlikely it will sell.

NEED to explain the Limbs Take PICTURES of the LIMBS (Explain FULL Limbs 3/4 or 1/4 Note

(Full limbs are Full ENTIRE limbs WITH Shoulder - Leg Rounds and Sockets)

Most listings saying full limbs are NOT full they are 3/4 -  so please check this carefully It TRULY matters.

MUST EXPLAIN THE TRUE Condition

MUST explain the MATERIALS Condition

You NEED to state if YOU HAVE the C.O.A's and the Original Box if you are selling a limited edition doll OR Doll heads and YES IT MATTERS

If you are selling a Doll head from a Limited Edition Reborn Doll Kit that has a C.O.A you MUST list that you have or don't have the C.O.A (YES IT MATTERS)

When you are selling limbs, you really don't need the c.o.a BUT with the Doll Heads you DO need the c.o.a

(The Kits - Dolls - Doll parts Must NOT be listed WITHOUT any of the following INFORMATION - Scratches - Ink spots - Holes - Discoloration - Mold - Mildew Smells or Damage of any kind.

Artists MUST be able to TRULY work with a collector in mind without a monetary loss that will reduce the final quality and price of a completed doll all because a seller did not disclose the information.

Our field DEMANDS INTEGRITY and QUALITY, The collector MUST get the highest quality artist Doll possible.

Artist are NOT Miracle workers - even though WE CAN do RESCUE BABY DOLLS when we choose to do so.

ARTIST Do Not Cover Damage - a Collector is always told about any manufacture flaws or any issues before purchasing there artist doll.

so please make certain artists buy the quality they truly need.

An Artist Work is Equal to the Quality of the Material Used - END of Story..

There is a Serious differences between an Professional Doll Artist and a Artist and a Crafter the work is clearly visible by the photos and the level of intense professional work by the realistic appearance as well as the attention of every detail important to a collector.

New Artists should HONESTLY Define PROFESSIONAL Doll Artist and Artist there is a HUGE difference.

(SPECIAL INFORMATION ) I am sorry to sound so forward and hard BUT the importance is BEYOND important it is IMPERATIVE

New Artist Should NEVER Keyword spam YOUR Dolls Name with an ARTIST Named Doll

Not only do you upset collectors - you disrespect the artist and the ENTIRE doll making industry.

EXAMPLE  - REBORN PREEMIE TEAGAN  (but listing shows a secrist or berenguer or cititoy)

Example BEAUTIFUL Denise Jessica Reborn OOAK  (but listing shows val shelton or another Doll)

If you have done just 1 newborn or reborn doll then You very well know what you are doing So does EBay so does the Collector as well as the Artist.

ALL MOST - Every Artist HAS a WATCH on THEIR Doll or Doll Kit MEANING if anyone lists the Doll Artist has made THE ARTIST KNOWS and is seeing your Listing. You are and should brace yourself for possible COPYRITE law Issues

Example The artist save the EBAY search of their Kit  under (Adrie Reborn) Meaning ANY Reborn Doll Listed with these TWO keywords under dolls will SHOW UP in the ARTISTS E-mail and they will read and see your Listing and access the validity. Please just AVOID THIS WITH HONESTY

Example (Reborn Baby Doll  Come Hug my Beautiful Hailey) BUT it is REALLY a Cititoy or Umax or Whatever then

YOU are KEYWORD spamming and also DEFAMING the Artist and Collector and the ENTIRE Doll Making Industry :PLEASE:: STOP THIS Please . Be original You Truly DISASSOCIATE Yourself and Look SO DISHONEST the VERY FIRST TIME you list this way you must know No one will bid or buy your doll maybe EXCEPT those who MAY want to file COPYRITE law INFRINGEMENT against you.

Artists who Reborn are Committed to the field and does everything to turn a plain doll into a collectable masterpiece which has a value to it equal to the work and desirability yet Honor the Original Work of the Artist who created the Doll Originally.

New artists should Honestly RESEARCH what they will be listings before listing your own doll. research EVERYTHING including Artist Spelling, Doll Name, any Infringement issues ANY thing you need to AVOID dishonest representational Issues -

NO Seller / Artists should EVER copy TEXT or IMAGES or the LAYOUTS of another Artist. This is COMPLETELY and SERIOUSLY frowned upon and you will seal your fate in the doll making field

There is no true STANDARD text, just important information and IMAGINATION and a HONEST Description in Your Own Words that is what is needed

You must realize the prices of the items should be equal to the investment

Honest artists will not allow or permit family or close friends to bid on the dolls to inflate the price not only is this illegal but it demeans a true artist position for self recognition and recognition in the field,
