Part 1: Real vs. Fake Seven 7 For All Mankind Jeans -Updated 4/16/2008-
After being swindled so many times, I thought I would share this information with you on getting the real deal for 7 For All Mankind (hereinafter '7FAM') jeans. Herewith what I've learned when trying to find or authenticate 7FAM jeans (bear in mind that no one criterion is an absolute determinant of authenticity; I will be putting up more pictures and a list of references in the upcoming weeks):
1) Virtually impeccable craftsmanship: For authentic designer clothing, such as 7FAM, there are absolutely no irregularities in the stitching, tailoring, spacing between the words on the labels, etc. A criterion that I always use is the flawless, nearly perfectly centered top and bottom horizontal stitching of the belt loops that never greatly exceed the boundaries of the flanking vertical stitches (and most definitely, will never run off the belt loop). Again, the stitching should be well centered on the belt loop and symmetric with respect to the vertical stitches.

Side Note: A highly imitated style right now is the crystallized 7FAM jeans. The crystals from authentic 7FAM are firmly glued and are highly reflective (they are genuine Swarovski crystals), and the backside of the Mylar paper harboring the extra crystals (if present) should have some descriptive text, such as 'SWAROVSKI', 'XILION', etc. etc. Further, if you can easily pick off a crystal, then those crystals along with the jeans are likely counterfeit.
2) The 3 interior waistband labels: All of the newer 7FAM jeans will have 3 superimposed labels on the inner side of the waistband, above the left front pocket. (Older ones are not necessarily under these criteria):
i) The size label: this label is the burgundy/maroon label that has the jean size stitched in gold threading. NOTE: If the size is a 3- (e.g., 30, 31, 32), the top half of the '3' should NOT be rounded. It should be jagged. In addition, the bottom of a "9" (e.g., size 29) on the size label should NOT be curved under, like a semi-circle. It should have a straight tail. The gold threading should also not be a bright, highly metallic gold but rather a matte, topaz gold.

ii) The care label: under the size label is a big beige label that has the 7FAM branding/logo stitched at the top, followed by "STYLE" (stitched), then the style number number (printed in faded black or gray, the material (ex: 98% cotton, 2% polyurethane), then exact phrase "Made in USA OF IMPORTED FABRIC" or "Assembled in Mexico of imported fabric Washed in LA" (stitched in the tag and w/ those exact capitalizations), then "CUT ######" ("CUT" is stitched in; the 6 digit cut number is printed in gray), and lastly, "SEE CARE ON REVERSE" at the bottom (for pictorial reference, please refer back to the above images).
The care label may also be a white Tyvek/paper label with the R/N# at top, then the style #, followed by the cut #, then the content, then the phrase "MADE IN U.S.A", and lastly, "SEE CARE ON REVERSE". All text on this label is printed in grey or a faded black, and the label itself is NOT glossy.

iii) The security label: This beige label is attached under the care label and is smaller. On the front, it has the 7FAM logo, and on the back, which is white, there should be an imprinting (almost as if punctured through the fabric), of a unique 9 digit serial number. NOTE: Per the request of corporate 7FAM, I have edited out all substantive information regarding the security label.
