I bought a Lacoste shirt on Ebay, only to find out that it was fake, so I had my money refunded. I could tell in person that the quality was shabby, and the alligator was incorrectly placed.
So then, I said I'd never buy Lacoste on ebay again, until I found a seller advertising 100% authentic polos, that had the alligator in the right place, so I went ahead against my best judgement and ordered two. It turns out that the fakes are just getting harder to detect. The alligator was in the right spot, it looked authentic, and the tags were right, yet something was off. Upon closer inspection it turned out that the buttons were actually plastic and not mother-of-pearl, like on the real Lacostes. The seller is no longer registered with eBay, so I'm left with $58 less in my bank account.
The point is, DONT BUY LACOSTE ON EBAY. The shirts are $72 in stores, they cant be sold for $25 online, it just doesn't work like that. The other guides on here tell you how to spot a fake, but the counterfeiters are just getting more clever and have started to manufacture more believable fakes.
