When I find an item on ebay that says it is "Rare", the first thing I do is look it up.
I find it a fairly dishonest practice by sellers to state that their item is rare and hard to find, just so they can get more bids.
I recently searched for playstation games. I found a seller that talked about other sellers ripping people off on shipping. He then went on to state that the game he was selling was very rare and a collector's item. You should bid right away! disappearing fast!!
I then did a search on that specific item, I found over 50 for sale throughout Ebay. One thing I noticed was that his item had more bids than most others and the bids were mostly from new ebayers.
When you see an item like "Marie Antoinette's original hair pin from the Bastille with COA", that is a rare item. "Marilyn Monroe's diamond studded toothbrush" That is rare. An item that has been mass produced for sale to the public is not rare. Do not be fooled into paying more for an item because someone calls it rare or vintage.
Do your homework! Look it up!
Buy your items based on price, seller's feedback, and quality of the item, not on hype and inflated claims.
