Visiting Rainbow Falls During a Tropical Storm
Tropical Depression Cosme was expected to pass just south of the Big Island late Friday night (July 20, 2007) through early Saturday morning (July 21, 2007). This is what Rainbow falls looked like on Friday morning right before the storm was expected to pass south of us. The water from the Wailuku river was barely flowing over. In fact it was the lightest I have ever seen it flow in years and to be honest it was kinda sad...
The rain began to fall and soon enough it was pouring rain throughout the day on Friday. This is what Rainbow Falls looked like the next morning...
Absolutely Spectacular! The mist from the falls was rising above the mango treetops and the roaring sound of the falls was awesome! The day before the rain came there was a group of tourists that came to see the falls while it was barely even flowing and they probably left dissapointed. I wish they came on this day. It was amazing! What a difference a rainy day makes!
When visiting the Big Island don't forget to take a trip to Rainbow Falls!
