With all of the new makes and models of R/C cars on the market and the trend of companies making a new 'version' of each model every year, lots of R/C used cars are available on eBay. The folks who must have the newest/fastest/best vehicle available are making it easier for the rest of us to get into the game; thier old ones go up on eBay! I have been toying with the R/C stuff for a few years now, let me suggest one thing: if you are buying an R/C car for a child under 13, GO ELECTRIC. The newer electrics do over 30-35mph and are more than enough for a kid. I have a NitroMethane powered car and, yes, it's faster then the electrics- dont get me wrong. They are the way to go for adults! The issue is complexity. A 10 year old wants to DRIVE the car, not fix it. The NitroMethane fuel is messy, the engine needs constant tuning based on air temp, humidity, and terrain and they are very loud. One cannot assume that because it ran yesterday, it will run today without tuning the air/fuel mixture. While the return on this is great for an adult(60+MPH offroad/90MPH+ for street cars), kids will probably find it frustrating. I let my 11 year old nephew drive my Nitro car when I'm around, but he'll get an electric of his own for Christmas this year. Oh, one more thing...the electrics typically run about half the cost of Nitros.
