My mother loves to sit back and enjoy the family while creating all types of rabbit dolls.  They are simple called rabbit dolls for that is the pattern usually used. She patterns them after real people, such as nurses, farmers, Betsy Ross,  and of course old nosey Aunt Vivian who just loved to pinch the cheeks of all the children, just to name a few.  They usually measure 36 inches tall.  They are sewn on the machine, and then stuffed.  Some handwork is carefully hidden sio as not to distract from the straight lines of the appendecies.  All clothing they wear is handmade by her as are the dolls themselves.  The clothing is made from various prints of cotton.  Most of the female dolls wear pantaloons adorned with lace.  Occassionaly though, She will adorn the male rabbits in denim jeans given to her by friends when their children outgrew them.  All dolls wear children shoes that compliment the offitt.  Using accesories such as miniature garden implements, stethescopes, or whatever the doll is to represents makes them more lovable and real.  And what doll isn't just prescious without makeup such as blush on the cheeks and shading inside the ears?  The eyes are usually buttons and the nose and mouth is embroidered with DMC thread.

Fabrics used vary from lightweight domestic, or cottons to various shades and colors and textures of animal fur.  They are stuffed with batting.  Some dolls are weighted down in the bottom so that they can sit pretilly on any peice of furniture.

Whearas the name rabbit doll makes many think they are only for Easter, the colorful outfits and personalities each one has make them appropriate for all seasons.

They are lovely to adorn a bed or to give to that special grandchild for a birthday present or christmas.   They are sturdy enough for any child to play with.  These dolls can be made to order.    If you would like to see my inventory just email me and I'll list a few more for you to see.  And remember, you are never too old to have a doll!

This particular doll is made of wood that was cut from a pattern by my husband.  The face and hands are cloth, stuffed with batting. The face is painted on.  The clothes she wears are handmade by myself using the same technique described above.
