Using the appropriate ice product is a key to making a pristine frozen drink in your new ice shaver blender.  Each machine will be factory preset for a different sort of ice product.  This means that the machine has preset adjustments that allow it to make an excellent product right out of the box.

TIPS, HINTS & POINTERS:
  • ice shavers are all factory preset for a certain type of ice cube, you can adjust most machines manually if the consistency is not right
  • Taylor CA4/ Frozen Concepts ABB1/ Abaco Joe machines seem to have factory preset for a 1-3/8" x 1-3/8" x 5/8" ice cube (Scotsman or other ice machine brand) - if you will be using different sized ice, please look at instructions below on how to adjust the blade height for most machines
  • DO NOT USE flaked ice- it will result in shaved ice that is too fine for most drinks

HOW to adjust the blade height on most machines:
  1. first of all, this is a blade, be careful, use common sense & safety procedures when handling all knives and blades;
  2. most blades are preset at the thickness of 2 dimes.
  3. You will find an adjustment nut - in the case of the Taylor/ Frozen Concepts machines i is located on the right side of the ice chute, access it underneath via the blender well- you will need a small adjustable wrench for this
  4. If you don't know the height of the blade follow your specific machine's directions on disassembly procedures to access the ice shaver blade and restore the factory setting.
  5. Don't forget to reassemble your machine per factory directions
  6. Program your machine again and your consistency should have improved.

Hopefully this guide has been helpful in troubleshooting the consistency in the ice of your frozen drink machine.  Please take a moment to rate us favorably and stop in to see our other many guides on frozen drink machines.  Once you have your machine running well be sure to stock top-shelf premium Fresh Island Drink Mixes.  Why settle for a lesser drink that is filled with corn fructose and artificial flavors?
