Unfortunately I have three Lexmark printers, all the same model. The reason for purchasing three printers the same model was to save money on my ink cartridges. By trial and errror I learned the tricks of making my colors bolder for my Artwork. While I was printing a photo, my printer malfunctioned. I thought it was rather strange since nothing unusual happened. No power glitch, no user error, hhmmmm.
What happened to my printer? After uninstalling the printer software then I reinstalled it, Thinking my problem has been solved. No! I was wrong! After consulting w/an invisable Lexmark tech, I was asked for my printer serial number. If I wanted technical support, Lexmark had to have my printer on file. This sounded reasonable. I was warned that my color was low but did not place an order when suggested by Lexmark. That was impossible because I had put a new refill cartridge w/40 grams of ink.
My printer went out again. This time I replaced it w/one that was not registered. No problems yet! I did go back and read the user agreement. This is important because I gave Lexmark permission to extract personal information from my computer that was not pertinent to the printer. I was tricked into thinking I would get better service if I signed the agreement. If I didn't sign, I would not get technical support. I own the printer. I should be able to make a choice on where and how I purchase my ink.
Lexmark was harrassing me while I was printing. It would throw messages at me everytime I used my printer. I couldn't make it stop until I installed another printer w/out giving them that serial number. If I have anymore problems from Lexmark, I will ask to be reimbursed for my three printers and damages if they choose to sabatoge my printers or computer. Retaliating won't be in their best interest.
