I thought I hit the Gold Mine...
With the recent popularity of the 2006 Topps Alex Gordon Wal-Mart Exclusive Rookie Error Card, and the eBay sales of this card topping $1500.00, I had visions of hundred dollar bills dancing in my head.
Why?
I recently pulled a 2006 Press Pass Reggie Bush Wal-mart Exclusive 1A Rookie Error Card.
The Error?
On the back are Defensive Statistics. Not only are they defensive statistics on an offensive player, but the statistics they list are astronomical, and grossly inaccurate...example?
It lists, for 2004 - Reggie Bush had 509 interceptions. 509! Wow...the total number of interceptions for his college career? A whopping 1301 interceptions! Impossible is right. Hence a true error card. So...is the card rare?
The answer is....
No.
Why is it not rare?
Because it is an UNCORRECTED ERROR CARD. That's right, every card that exists is incorrect. How many exist? RC2/Press Pass, the manufacturer of this card will not say. All they will say is that it is an "uncorrected error card". Most probably there were several thousands of these cards produced.
Remember, it is estimated that there are less than one hundred 2006 Topps Error Cards of Alex Gordon in existence.
Rarity is about numbers. This Reggie Bush error card is not rare. It is incorrect, and that makes it an error card, but not a rare card.
