There are numerous sellers on ebay that are selling fake bluetooths, NOT true motorola headsets. I hope in writing this guide that others might be more aware of the differences and be able to avoid buying from these counterfeiters. below is the inside view of a real (on left) and fake (on right) bluetooth headset. notice the more white in color and prominent print on the fake headset, and the lack of a serial number on the fake also. the real headset is lighter in grey color than the fake, also the real one's earhook has stronger catch points than the fake. Volume is comparable for them both, but on the fake the volume orientation on this one won't change like the manual says it's supposed to. The click on the volume buttons on the fake are much stronger and snappier click than the real one. rubber texture on the real earhook is more real and has better grab to your fingers when rubbed than the fake. On the fake large outside button, the phone emblem is deeper and the chrome isn't nearly as shinny as the real one. The motorola emblem is true to it's logo, pointed at ends of M and rounded as it should be, and unlike the fake, it's true satin finish is a real noticable thing on the real one. The emblem on the end of boom is much more detailed on the real one and true satin finish also. The fake eyelet widens out at M emblem, the real one is perfectly straight. The true bluetooth has much better range and true sounds that are lacking on the fake, such as call connected sound, dropped call, ect....and the battery life is far better on a real headset. many of these knockoffs are DOA, batteries that won't even hold a charge. Somebody needs to stand up and get these counterfeiters off of ebay, Motorola is a fine upstanding company that is having their good name scarred by these people, and customers being taken of their money for a far less quality product, and many times one that doesn't even work out of the package. A true motorola comes in a bubble package but it is sealed with a seal, not just snapped in a case, and that case is different than some of the ones counterfeiters send, if they use a bubble pack at all. many come in a ziplock bag, beware, these are definately fakes, unless of course it comes from straight from motorola themselves. I hope this helps some of you out there BEFORE you make a purchase on ebay, MANY of these sellers are selling FAKES!!
