In this post I'm using the internet for what it's worth, which is about two cents in this case. Let's think about what two cents will buy us in today's day and age. Gas is 4.00+ a gallon, Gold is up to $990 dollars an ounce and a loaf of bread runs around $2 or $3 if your lucky. I look at watches as I view fine automobiles. Balance, precision and a graceful elegance, they can each be considered a piece of art in their own way. I know I'm jumping around a bit, but let's look at automobiles. I say this because those buying a watch on ebay that think they are getting some marvelous deal on a $5,000 - 10,000 watch are the equivalent to that of an anxious teenager whose license is burning a whole in their pocket as they look to buy the first piece of junk that resembles their ideal first vehicle. Overpriced, who cares!. Worthless material value, no problem! We just needed a car, any car, and it didn't matter whether it had holes in the floor. We've all been there, lets face it... It didn't matter that the vehicle wasn't worth the stereo system retrofitted and installed inside, our naive desire to get behind the wheel of anything we could call our own was sublime. To others we were regarded as head cases, but we were blinded by our own excitement and in our eyes that piece of junk was the worth the world. This obviously doesn't apply to you If your one whose parents bought you a BMW at 16, in that case I doubt your scouring ebay for a top-of-the-line anything; unless you're "thrifty", or as I like to call it "CHEAP"; It's also quite possible that you have no taste or sense of value. Anyway, when you pay $400 dollars for a vehicle, it's safe to assume that it's an extremely old and common make and model that looks like it came from a junkyard. $70,000 will buy you that sparkling midnight blue M3 with the works. The same can be said about watches, you get what you pay for. If you want a classic timepiece that is never going to break, is flawless in design and looks like that of your grown up "dream car", then chances are your not looking for the watch on ebay for a few hundred dollars. Granted these watches are well designed and easy on the eyes, but a fossil watch costs from 60 to 200 dollars today. Wake up! Purchase these for the value of which they are worth to you. Ebay is great and all, but it's ludicrous for people to speculate about the actual value of these watches. It's not like ebay is a spot market in which we are trading commodities, rather a means of connecting people with whatever their heart's desire. It's one thing to have a piece appraised, its another to make unfounded speculation about the price of watches on the basis of personal experience because truly "elite" items are auctioned at southerby's, sorry ebay. Back to my original point, with the value of our dollar deflating on a daily basis what will 100 dollars buy you? Two tanks of gas that last a week or two if you're lucky? If you buy a watch, or anything else for that matter, expect to get what you pay for. Hopes, dreams and fantasies about delusions of grandeur is naive. If the watch lasts long (with maintenance), is relatively inexpensive to fix, and KEEPS THE TIME, i'd say you got your moneys worth. besides, they look sweet as well. s
