Guide prepared based on my R2D2, R2Q5 and R2D2 30th anniversary edition( I have yet to own a R4-P17)

Background on the series

I am a collector of Star Wars toys and R2D2 is always on the very top of my favorite list.  I was extremely excited and immediately got my hands on this remote control droid by TOMY.  The series was released in 2005 - 2007 come in four, slightly different to most but significant to some, varieties.  There is of course the R2D2 Droid, R2D2 battle damaged 30th Anniversary Edition, R2Q5 (the one in black) and R4-P17 Obiwan's Droid in Ep. III in red.

Package content

The figure stands at roughly 1" tall and comes in the package is the IR sensor light saber remote control for the droid.  The figure is powered by 2 LR-44 batteries and the control is powered by 2 LR-44 batteries as well.  The action figure is able to move in forward in straight line motion and backwards in circular motion.  The design enables the figure to move in all direction.  The figure also give out red LED lights and the head will switch slightly during movement.  User can hear R2D2 famous driod "beeps" coming from the lightsaber remote control.

Fun Factor
The key factor to a fun toy is the ability to interact and this series are no exception.  The R2D2, R2Q5 and R4P17 comes in remote with different band hence the ability for different users to race through an obstacle course or simple "knock off another droid event" right on the desktop.

Care tips
It doesn't take too much effort to maintain the droid in good condition.  For user that is really particular might want to remove the battery after playing to avoid damaging the droid internal motor if you let the battery sit for too long.  Would recommend placing a strip of plastic or paper underneath the battery for easy replacement (of course there is a painful first time removal)  as the fit for LR-44 in the droid is proven to be a challenge for battery exchange.  Often the user need the assistance of screw driver or plyer to remove the drained / expired battery in the droid.

To conclude this is one of the best SW ideas yet, must have for SW fans!!
