Quinceanera - Planning Your Family's Quinceanera
In the United States, young girls who turn 16 often get a special party known as their "sweet sixteen". In Latin America, young girls celebrate their fifteenth birthday in a special event known as the quinceanera. As with similar traditions, the quinceanera is a celebration to mark a young girl's transition into womanhood.
Although it is celebrated in a number of Latin American countries, Mexico pays close attention to the tradition. Typically, the event begins with a mass. The young girl whose birthday it is usually wears a pink or white dress and is accompanied by a number of family members. After the mass, the young girl leaves a bouquet for the Virgin Mary and returns home where she celebrates the event with her family by dancing with all of her male relatives.
Even though the mass plays an important part of the festivities, the banquet is what most families focus on. Young girls and their mothers often spend months picking out dresses for the event. The bouquet left for the Virgin Mary is another important decision. Additionally, there are numerous other important elements to purchase, from centerpieces to favors and invitations--some quinceaneras can be quite large in scale.
For families looking to purchase supplies for their daughter's upcoming quinceanera favors, eBay has a wide selection to choose from. From dresses to bouquets, invitations and , eBay's listings include many of the elements needed for a successful celebration--often at better deals than are available anywhere else.
