I have so many customers who make quilts for charity that I thought I would provide some information for those of you who want to get stared with this type of quilting.
WHO MIGHT NEED A HANDMADE QUILT AND HOW DO I FIND THEM??
Contact local organizations, such as the staff at domestic abuse shelters and children's aid offices...also cancer treatment wards at hospitals and church groups who help the needy... Ask if a group already makes quilts for them. Obtain the group's contact information and give them a call.
Be sure to find out if the organization you choose has specific
guidelines for the quilts they will accept. Follow all guidelines
carefully.
Quilting for charity can be a rewarding past time...I myself make small quilts for cancer patients and knowing that I brought someone a small touch of home in a cold hospital setting is quite rewarding!!

- Ask staff at local quilt shops if they know of comfort quilt groups....Most fabric stores keep a book with contact information in them for many groups
- If you do not belong to a quilting guild, find out if one
exists in your area and attend a meeting to ask if the group works on
charity quilts.
- Watch for quilting classes held at local community colleges. Quilting teachers are often tuned-in to local happenings.
- If you cannot find a local group, start one yourself or
work alone to make quilts for a reputable organization, either locally,
nationally or internationally.A simple internet search will help you find such an organization.
