I write this to offer more information to the average joe jockey who likes to bike ride and thought it would be a great oppertunity to convert to QUICK RELEASE SCEWERS (also seen with spelling "SKEWERS") ...... i was just as naive when i bought my set on ebay. I WANT TO TELL YOU WHAT SELLERS WONT!!! I use my bike for going to work (was a big help when my car was hit and pending investigation i had no car) and for leisurley rides, figured the quick relase system would be great if i ever wanted to put my bike in car and transport it to some nice trails (removing the tire makes just enough room to put whole bike in car) ..... anyways, i bought my QR system which look like the following look up item# 300043075794 ..... keep searching ebay, almost ALL of them are like this. what i didnt know until i called my local sports store (and i encourage ALL to call before buying on ebay) .... is that these are good for replacing an ALREADY EXISTING quick release system (like if you break yours which almost never happens) these WILL NOT CONVERT YOUR NON QUICK RELEASE SYSTEM OVER!!! the reason i went as far as writing a review on this, i at first figured it was my own lack of education and life moves on, but when i called my local sports store they IMMEDIATLY knew this was an ebay purchase, they said they are getting multiple complaints a day from people asking for help or bringing theirs in trying to get instalation assistance!!! this tells me this is a MASSIVE ebay issue!!! this is just one store location, if theyre getting many complaints all the time immagine how many all over are getting complaints from honest people needing help!! ..... here is what i was told...... the "hub" on my bike (the part the scewer goes through) is a fixed system and a QR scewer has no way of compressing with the bearings on the bike for proper function (meaning youll start youre instal and eventualy realize there is an issue after wasting all this time) ..... they told me i need to buy a WHOLE NEW RIM that is compatible with the bearing being compressed by special peices designed for QR, they guy has sympathy enough to offer free instal if i buy his rim, but not every store called made this nice offer ...... in addition youll notice a difference in size for the QR scewer being much thinner/smaller than your regular bike size, furthur more confirmation that you need to buy a whole new rim!!

WHAT THIS MEANS TO THE CONSUMER IS........

~ its going to cost anywhere from $50-100 (per wheel, some people just want from QR some want front and back QR) on TOP of what you spent on the scewers to get a conversion done (ebayers are not telling you, and not including this needed part) this is based on an average for the quotes i got in my area calling about 5guys, ONLY one shop offered free instal .... SO DONT FORGET THE VALUE OF LABOR if youre like me and already upset cuz you invested so much time before you found out!!!

~ WE ARE SPENDING TOO MUCH ON THIS EBAY "DEAL" i also found out making my calls that most shops will sell QR compatible rims that INCLUDE the QR scewers for that $50-100 price that you would ALREADY HAVE TO SPEND ON TOP OF THE EBAY PARTS YOU ALREADY BOUGHT (meaning you DIDNT HAVE TO BUY THE ebay parts so DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY)

the biggestmoral learned here is ignorance, many consumers wont shop around they just think they found a good price and its convenient to find it from your couch so you go for it...... i personaly did try and shop around but since i bought in winter time i had trouble finding parts in local stores (turned out it wasnt on the shelves since its "out of season" instead it was in the back of the store i should have asked associate for help which i hate trying to find store workers so i gave up) i instead bought what looked like would work for me on ebay. i bought mine from united kingdom for about $40 USD down the hole.

for those who read this and still walk away confused...... HERE IS A PICTURE OF WHAT A PROPER SYSTEM MIGHT LOOK LIKE look up item# 330093551120  ..... notice how the "hub" is included?? its becuase non QR rims and QR rims are NOT INTERCHANGABLE!!! this one is being sold so that you can instal the whole system onto your bike (a lot of work to instal the spokes) notice those extra spacer things outside where the purple hub is?? those are what is NOT INCLUDED on these other QR purchases.
