Terapeak is a great research tool for eBay - here are just a couple of quick tips we've learned in using Terapeak:
1) The site gives a lot of info - it may be helpful to focus on one metric at a time. In other words, focus just on sell through rate at first - or focus just on high price at first - its kind of tough to wrap one's mind around both, especially to start. I find sell through rate is a good place to start.
2) This is key but easy to overlook - make sure your time zones match. That is, set Terapeak to the same time zone that you work with eBay in (typically Pacific) - if you use a third party tool to post listings, make sure that is in sync too!
3) In figuring out when your auctions end, its tempting to just make everything 7 days as in - if I list it on Tuesday at 5 pm it'll end on Tuesday at 5 pm. However, I'm noticing more and more that the research tools (at least in our categories) are saying 3 day auctions are better - its worth counting 3 days back to make sure you're listing the best auction.
4) This took me a while to figure out - in Terapeak at least when you list the results that default to the top aren't necessarily the best options, but the most common. Expand the fields after a search and go with what the numbers say...the results at the top of the fields are just the most common listings, not necessarily the best.
Hope that helps - happy eBaying!
